AxARob Photo art showon Display Tonight

AxARob photo art will be on display Thursday evening, November 4 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Tijon Parfumerie and Boutique in Grand Case. AxARob is the photo artistry of Rob Weiner. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Rob’s interest in photography began while he was in High School. While shooting a close up of a caged tiger, Rob discovered the magic of depth-of-field; he was able to make the tiger’s cage fade away! He knew at that moment the ability to manipulate reality and bring forth beauty through photography would be a driving force in his life. He was hooked.

Rob continued his photography studies while attending Central Missouri State University. When he joined the US Army in 1983, his camera remained as familiar as his rifle.

During his first duty assignment in Ft. Sill Oklahoma, Rob participated in photo shoots to help chronicle the local buffalo herd, prairie dogs and the rugged landscape of Southwest Oklahoma. The arid Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge provided Rob the opportunity to experience the beauty in the endless miles of rolling hills and scrub grass. But it was in Hawaii, Rob’s final military assignment, that he discovered the ambrosia that would drive and sustain his photographic career. The ocean and the tropical beauty nourished his soul, and have become his genre of choice. Rob has since completed photo work in Mexico, the Bahamas and the Lesser Antilles. He makes at least one trip a year to capture the allure of the islands in photos.

Following the encouragement of friends who recognized Rob’s talent and passion for creating art through the lens, Rob created Antilles Treasures, LLC.

Through Antilles Treasures, the world can purchase shots of tropical paradises, which are the windows of Rob’s soul. His artwork was well received at a debut on Grand Case, Saint Martin, in April 2010. Several of his pieces continue on display there.

Rob chronicles his trips to the Caribbean via blog and photos at AxARob.com and markets his work at AntillesTreasures.com

He currently resides in Overland Park, Kansas, with his wife Mary of 27 years.

Tijon Parfumerie & Boutique is located in Grand Case, 1 L’Esperance Road where French Airport Road intersects with Beach Road. Back from Island Visit

by axarob on Nov.18, 2010, under Capt'ns Blog

We have returned to the less than balmy middle of the USA after 12 days in the Caribbean.  While there I had two showings of my art and was published in the Daily Herald, Click Here

The trip was successful and we certainly enjoyed ourselves.  Was a bit busier than normal but that is what happens when one is trying to start a business.

The weather was not very cooperative, we were unable to take the day cruise and shoot beaches from the water.  We did however sneak off to Anguilla for a day and I will have a few new shots to add from there in coming days.

I will be back on island for an art show on November 4th. Antilles Treasures is the feature artist in a multi artist showing. I will have two signature pieces with me as well as several canvas and metal pieces. This show will introduce to the world my jewelry line as well as a couple of incredible photo purses. All items except for the signature limited edition pieces can be seen here on my site. If you are on island, stop in at Tijon in Grand Case between 6 and 8 pm to say hi. If not, take a few minutes and browse through the store.

Welcome

by axarob on Oct.27, 2010, under Capt'ns Blog

Welcome to Antilles Treasures. This site is the culmination of many years of trial and error. Please come in, poke around and of course let me know what you think!

I never knew that picking merchandise and matching things to pictures could be so fun. The pictures in the fine art section will change from time to time as they either don’t sell or I decide that there is something else I would like to display. There are plans to grow the photo trove as well as the treasures & trinkets as time passes but we are experiencing the same tight economy that everyone else is.

Thanks for stopping in, please book mark the site and/or select the RSS feed at the top of the page to follow Antilles Treasures as we grow and change.
